I went for my first pole dancing class!!!!
ITS HARD WORK!

Since I have random days off, I can't comit to a regular class so I can only attend once off sessions. I have 2 blue blacks on my knees from trying to get to the pole, cause you sort of have to "jump" on. The class I went to was pretty intensive firstly, cause its only 45 mins secondly, I was the only person new to pole dancing. The rest were enrolled in Beginner classes or Intermediate classes!

Didn't help that the instructor was going so fast I could barely keep up! She's a good instructor cause she'll be like, "suck it up!!" (cause a few of us were getting really tired) and go round helping people out. SHE IS SO GOOD, she can do so many stunts and be all sexy and stuff. Even better than the pole dancers in Spore!! I think the pole dancers in Spore are only Intermediate 3 stage!
Stretching, star jumps, crutches, climbing up the pole, staying ON the pole.. Gosh. I kept sliding off the pole cause of my weak arms, doesnt help when you have sweaty palms as well!

There were quite a few matured students and I mean, moms with kids who are about 40 years old!

I think I'll keep going for random classes, cause I can only go for random classes.
Hope my roster allows me to attend the Exotic or Striptease classes!

ITS FUN GIRLS!! Hard work, but you get fit too!!

A new blog skin!

I know I've been neglecting this site abit, I just don't see the need to update my blog when I'm back in Spore! I mean, I see people who are important to me, often enough for me to update them on what's going on. =)

BACK IN MELBOURNE!
Hmmm...

I got my zoom zoom, its a Jazz! I LOVE IT.
Guess the colour! Its not a colour I will choose, I don't think? But I'm happy with it.

Anyway, rough day yesterday, especially last night.
One, cause my parents are going back, and I'm usually moody the whole day that they're going back. Doesn't help cause I make them worry, but I can't help it!
Two, DRIVING. Its so much easier to drive here compared to Spore, cause drivers here are more courteous (to some extend, I was proven WRONG last night), especially when they see that you have a "P" plate. BUT THIS IDIOT WAS SUCH AN ASSHOLE.
This was at the airport, when I was dropping my parents off. I mean, I wasn't feeling fantastic to begin with, and ok, I was in the wrong cause I kindof stopped the car at the bus bay. This asshole bus driver just kept horning! DAMN YOU IDIOT BUS DRIVER. I was moving off, its not like I was stopping, BUT THAT ASSHOLE kept horning!
And I'm a "P" plate for goodness sake, JUST BE FREAKING PATIENT!
YES, I'm still very annoyed even though it happened last night.
DAMN YOU BUS DRIVER!

SEOUL : Kim Hyun Joong of popular South Korean boyband SS501 has been diagnosed with the H1N1 flu virus and is currently hospitalised in Tokyo, said his agency.

The “Boys Over Flowers” star who was in Japan to promote the hit drama series over the weekend, was down with a fever and a headache, and was forced to miss promotional activities on Sunday.

According to a statement by agency DSP Media, Kim was scheduled for a noon flight back to South Korea on Monday and had made it through immigration without any problems. But the singer was later taken to the emergency room when his health took a turn for the worse.

The 23-year-old was diagnosed with Influenza A (H1N1) and will remain in Japan for further observation.

Kim’s agent said other band members are well and will continue working on a new album which will be released in Japan.

SEOUL : One of Korea’s most popular boy bands TVQX (otherwise known as Dong Bang Shin Gi) are causing all their fans around Asia to panic as speculation of a possible disbandment runs rye.

Korean media reported that three of the group’s five members, had filed for termination of their contracts with the group’s managing company, SM Entertainment, in a Seoul court on Friday. They were reportedly unhappy with the unreasonable working hours and unfair contract.

Xiah, Hero and Micky’s representative revealed through news media on Monday that since joining the band in 2003, the stars have been working non stop, travelling in and out of Korea for promotional events and surviving on just three to four hours of sleep each day. As a result, they have become mentally fatigued and their health, greatly affected.

Their rep added that the trio feel that for the past five years, they were just money making tools for SM and have not been able to fulfil their ambitions and visions for the band.

Other bones of contention include their record royalties and contracts which members deemed unfair and tied them to SM for too long. Though they signed 13-year contracts, this excluded the time spent in military service, and would eventually exceed 15 years. The members had repeatedly requested for revisions to the contracts but to no avail.

Xiah, Hero and Micky have maintained that they are taking legal action in a bid to free themselves from contract restraints, and have no intentions to disband the group.

Meanwhile, the pop quintet which include members U Know and Max, are expected to appear as scheduled together at all their other working engagements.

“As a representative group to the country and to Asia, our stand is that activities for Dong Bang Shin Gi have to continue even with this disposition application. And about the problems arising from the discussion to do a cosmetic enterprise, we plan to talk over them and sort out the problems as soon as possible,” read SM Entertainment’s statement.

“On SM’s side, we still have much love for Dong Bang Shin Gi. We do not want them to disband,” said an SM Entertainment representative, “Let’s resolve this peacefully seeing the long time we have worked together since their debut till now.”

Chubby people live longest: Japan study

TOKYO - Health experts have long warned of the risk of obesity, but a new Japanese study warns that being very skinny is even more dangerous, and that slightly chubby people live longest.

People who are a little overweight at age 40 live six to seven years longer than very thin people, whose average life expectancy was shorter by some five years than that of obese people, the study found.

"We found skinny people run the highest risk," said Shinichi Kuriyama, an associate professor at Tohoku University's Graduate School of Medicine who worked on the long-term study of middle-aged and elderly people.

"We had expected thin people would show the shortest life expectancy but didn't expect the difference to be this large," he told AFP by telephone.

The study was conducted by a health ministry team led by Tohoku University professor Ichiro Tsuji and covered 50,000 people between the ages of 40 and 79 over 12 years in the northern Japanese prefecture of Miyagi.

"There had been an argument that thin people's lives are short because many of them are sick or smoke. But the difference was almost unchanged even when we eliminated these factors," Kuriyama said.

Main reasons for the shorter lifespans of skinny people were believed to include their heightened vulnerability to diseases such as pneumonia and the fragility of their blood vessels, he said.

But Kuriyama warned he was not recommending people eat as much as they want.

"It's better that thin people try to gain normal weight, but we doubt it's good for people of normal physique to put on more fat," he said.

The study divided people into four weight classes at age 40 according to their body mass index, or BMI, calculated by dividing a person's weight in kilograms by their squared height in metres.

The normal range is 18.5 to 25, with thinness defined as under 18.5. A BMI of 25 to 30 was classed as slightly overweight and an index above 30 as obese.

SINGAPORE : There have been two more confirmed cases of Influenza A H1N1 in Singapore, bringing the total number to 17.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) said the two latest cases have travel history to affected areas. They have relatively mild symptoms and are in stable condition.

One of them is a 40-year-old man from India who works in Singapore.

He returned to Singapore from Melbourne, where he was on a business trip, on Singapore Airlines SQ238 on June 6.

He developed symptoms on the morning of June 7. He sought medical attention at a private hospital on June 8 and was sent by ambulance to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

He was admitted to the Communicable Disease Centre where laboratory results confirmed his infection.

The other patient is a 25-year-old air stewardess who was off-duty.

The Malaysian was on holiday in Melbourne and returned to Singapore on Emirates EK 405 on June 7.

EXORBITANT!!! And coupled with the HORRIBLE music, makes clubbing in Melbourne very painful.

Fridays are usually Asian Night, where the city is quieter and safer, unlike Saturdays.
But we went on a Saturday. SHOCKING.

There has been alot of taxi driver muggings and assaults over the last 3 years, so its very hard for a group of guys to take a cab from a club. This idiot drunkard, rowdy rude ass kept snatching our cabs cause NO CAB wanted to take him! And he verbally assults the taxi driver when they don't want to take him, and even spat at the cab (thank goodness not the driver) !! Shocking behaviour!!
And when we FINALLY got a cab (a van that can take about 8 people), this mad girl suddenly opened the back of our cab when it was stopped at the traffic light!!! She was clearly drunk, but it was so frightening!!

And our taxi driver also another one character, suddenly saw his friend at the same traffic light, and picked him up too (he sat at the front seat)!! And he didn't even ask to see if its okay for us!!!! They were speaking in their own language and we thought that the same guy wanted to share the cab, and got REALLY concerned after the encounter with the 2 mad drunkards, but turned out they knew each other, so we closed one eye.

This is Melbourne on a Saturday night at 230am for you.

We had to meet in church at 7am, and Mimi lives 45 minutes away via train. Thing about Melbourne transport is that on Good Friday, train's don't start till 7:15am. How weird!!! So anyway, she had to stay over at my place.

Singapore Kindness Movement to spread message to homes, offices

SINGAPORE: The Singapore Kindness Month is kicking off on April 4 and organisers want to bring their message into homes and offices.

Even though the idea of showing kindness is a simple one, organisers said it takes more than a catchy jingle to change the social habits of people.

A survey was conducted last December to find out how much weight Singaporeans gave to being kind and gracious, and how well they fared in each of these areas. The overall result was a mere 58 out of 100.

The survey also found that six in ten people, out of 500 respondents, were not too impressed with the level of social graces around them.

"As drivers, Singaporeans are rude — they take advantage, break the rules when they can, it’s a me—first attitude," one man said.

But surprisingly, most Singaporeans were not too upset over the behaviours of others in the food court. These include failing to return food trays and leaving tissue paper packets or umbrellas on seats to indicate that they have been taken.

One lady said: "’Choping’ seats with tissue paper is fine, especially in Raffles Place because everybody else is doing it — it’s like the culture here. Of course at times, it can be quite embarrassing to do that, but we really have no choice. We’re only given one hour for lunch!"

The Singapore Kindness Movement wants to get the young started on the courtesy drive.

Koh Poh Tiong, chairman, Singapore Kindness Movement, said: "We’re not perfect, but I’m an optimist. I’ve got full faith in Singaporeans. I think, generally, Singaporeans are a bit shy to be expressive.

"I noticed that when my son opened a door for a lady, some of his friends said, ’Why are you doing this?’. But if we can teach children at a very young age, it’ll become second nature to them."

The organisers hope that through celebrity ambassadors and public outreach initiatives this year, they can encourage more people to show kindness.

I was having breakfast and I usually have it infront of the computer while checking emails and stuff. Today I was so engrossed that I didn't realize the milk in my cereal tasted funny. Like, it didn't taste normal, but I just brushed it off.

Then, on the LAST mouth when I was concentrating on eating, did I realize it tasted funny. Like, sour-ish. (But I finished it anyway cause the milk wasn't suppose to expire until tomorrow!)

Then I went to check the milk carton. Exp 2nd April. I'm correct what!

Then I opened and smelled the milk.

Mindef breaks silence on dead doctor Allan Ooi

SINGAPORE: For the first time since Singapore Armed Forces doctor Allan Ooi was found dead under a bridge in Melbourne nearly three weeks ago, the Ministry of Defence (Mindef) has come forward to address the incident in detail.

In a letter to the press, Mindef stated that it wished to “clarify certain facts regarding media reports on Capt (Dr) Ooi’s service in the SAF and his scholarship bond”, and gave a rundown of the events leading to his disappearance in October.

An alleged suicide note by Capt (Dr) Ooi, which has been circulating on the Internet, has been stoking public speculation, in particular. Chinese-language daily Lianhe Zaobao had referenced the alleged letter and its contents, which touched on his dissatisfaction with his job and his bond with the SAF.

Mindef confirmed in its letter that Capt (Dr) Ooi, who studied medicine at the National University of Singapore under the SAF Local Study Award (Medicine), had last year informed his superior at the Aeromedical Centre that he was “unhappy at work and was considering leaving the SAF”.

Recipients of the scholarship are required to serve a 12-year bond after their housemanship, which Capt (Dr) Ooi completed in 2006.

“On 3 Oct 2008, his superior offered him the option of posting to an appointment which he would be interested in,” wrote Mindef spokesman Darius Lim in the letter.

“Capt (Dr) Ooi agreed to consider this option and to get back to his superior in two weeks’ time. However, he did not do so. He also did not submit any application to leave the SAF.”

Less than two weeks later, Capt (Dr) Ooi went Awol (absent without official leave). He would have been scheduled to go for his hospital posting at the end of this year.

In the letter, Mindef stated that SAF officers who take up sponsorship have a responsibility to serve the full period of their bonds as “substantial resources and time have been devoted to training them”.

“Otherwise, they will leave gaps in key positions in the SAF. Nevertheless, if an officer wishes to leave the service early, he can submit an application through a proper process. Approval to leave the service will be granted only under strong and extenuating circumstances,” wrote Colonel Lim.

Capt (Dr) Ooi was commissioned in 2006, and served for one and a half years in the Air Force Medical Service. He was sponsored by the SAF in January last year for further specialist training in Aviation Medicine in the United Kingdom. He was posted to the Aeromedical Centre after completing the course last July.

While it was not said if this would extend his stay in the SAF, a 12-year bond from a Local Study Award comprises six years spent in hospitals to acquire clinical competency in fields needed by the SAF.

The other six years are spent in command and staff positions with the SAF Medical Corps, performing duties such as the clinical care of SAF servicemen and professional development of military medicine.

Melbourne police are still investigating the circumstances of Capt (Dr) Ooi’s death.

Clubbing in Melbourne!
My friends suddenly want to go cause most of the haven't clubbed in a long time!
So, we went to Eve which has Asian Night on Fridays.
TONS of Asians! (There are good looking guys too! Well, its the whole of Asia!)
They all dress well. No shorts, no leggings. There isnt a rule, but yeah, most were well dressed.
BUT THE MUSIC WAS NOT NICE!!!!! Out of 30 songs +- only 6 were identifiable! Alot of rapping songs, but there wasn't any familiar ones~!! No Britney Spears, No Beyonce!! HOWCAN?!?!?!

12,000 people expected to attend Singapore Day in London.

SINGAPORE: The third Singapore Day will be celebrated in London’s palace grounds on April 25. And despite the economic downturn, organisers are not cutting back on the budget. The previous Singapore Day in Melbourne attracted more than 11,000 people. And this year, organisers are expecting a turnout of 12,000 in London. There are about 40,000 Singaporeans living in the UK, and some overseas Singaporeans from Croatia, Sweden, Czech Republic, and other parts of Europe have also signed up for the event, which will be held at Hampton Court Palace, a 45-minute train ride from central London.

The cost of the celebration is at least S$6 million, double that of last year's. Director of the Overseas Singaporean Unit at the Prime Minister's Office, Quah Ley Hoon, said: "Even in the downturn, it is important that we continue our effort to engage overseas Singaporeans and connect them back home. "We hope that through this day, they'll be able to get to play their part for the country, either (by volunteering their services) for the Youth Olympic Games or to the overseas Singaporean associations, who will also be there (at the event)." There will also be performances by artistes such as the Dim Sum Dollies and Hossan Leong. Hosting the event is blogger Mr Brown, with film maker Eric Khoo as the show's creative director. There will also be exhibitions on the latest developments in Singapore, such as the Marina Bay Sands integrated resort, and something the boys are familiar with - National Service. The Defence Ministry will showcase their soldier capabilities at the event.

Singapore Day is not just a government effort. More than 300 overseas Singaporeans have volunteered their time for the event and 28 corporate partners will also lend their support. Despite the economic downturn, there are going to be 16 recruitment booths at Singapore Day, with a few thousand jobs on offer. The National Population Secretariat said that with the global recession, more Singaporeans overseas are enquiring about jobs back home. More than 150,000 Singaporeans live overseas.

Merlion statue at Singapore River struck by lightning; suffers slight damage

SINGAPORE: In a rare incident, Singapore's longstanding icon, the original Merlion statue at the mouth of the Singapore River has been struck by lightning.

One witness told MediaCorp Radio's 938LIVE that orange sparks flew when lightning struck between 4 and 5pm at Merlion Park.

Staff in the vicinity said they heard an explosion followed by a loud thud when broken pieces fell to the ground.

About 30 people dashed into a nearby restaurant for safety.

HARARE (AFP) - - Zimbabwe unveiled a 100 trillion dollar note Friday in the latest grim measure of its staggering economic collapse, heightening the urgency of a new round of unity talks set for next week.

Veteran leader Robert Mugabe and opposition chief Morgan Tsvangirai are set to hold talks Monday with key regional leaders in a bid to salvage a four-month-old unity accord, which has yet to be implemented.

The new 100,000,000,000,000 Zim-dollar bill would have been worth about 300 US dollars (225 euros) at Thursday's exchange rate on the informal market, where most currency trading now takes place, but the value of the local currency erodes dramatically every day.

Hoping to salvage the deal, South Africa's new President Kgalema Motlanthe plans to fly to Harare on Monday with Mbeki and Mozambican President Armando Emilio Guebuza to mediate new talks.

"They will focus their discussions on the outstanding matters in the implementation of the global agreement," Motlanthe's spokesman Thabo Masebe told AFP in Johannesburg.

Tsvangirai told reporters Thursday that he remained committed to the unity accord. "All I lack is a willing partner," Tsvangirai said.

But he said he was not willing for talks to drag on indefinitely.

"At some point we will have to decide whether it is worth going into this government or not," he said.

China trip photos from 昆明，大理，丽江。
The entire trip went like this, we had to fly from 新加坡 to 昆明 (stayed 2 nights) and then take an internal flight from 昆明 to 大理 (stayed for 1 night) and then a coach from 大理 to 丽江 (stayed 3 nights).
The trip back home went like this: Internal flight from 丽江 to 昆明 and then from 昆明 to Bangkok (曼谷） and from 曼谷 back to 新加坡.

It was a scenic trip so, most of the photos are scenic. Postcard perfect!
I did fulfill my new year resolution! Took many many photos, just a selected few to share.

My thoughts on China? Toilets weren't as bad as I thought they will be, there was ONE that was HORRIBLE. Very primitive. I didn't take any photos cause, well, to be honest, I heard it from the others who went down to visit the loo.

I saw a few cute ones, even my tour guide (for 大理） is quite cute. Not in the handsome cute way, but in the cute-english-speaking way. He's not handsome, he's cute!

The photos are all over, I didn't bother posting them according to days. Truth is, I can't really remember where I went. Lol. They were in Chinese, Chinese names are hard to remember!!

Mahjong!! Lol. The way they play it varies from province to province. They play without 青蕟，白板，红中，animals and 东，南，西，北。 Makes you wonder how they earn money.

Bone Marrow. They gave us a straw (to such the marrow) and gloves to eat it. Interesting!

Hideous amount of oil! I skimmed 1 cup full of oil! Anyway, the oil is suppose to keep the soup warm. There is a tale behind it. This tribal lady had to deliver food to her husband who works far away from home. When food reaches her husband, they always turn cold before he can eat it, so, she discovered that by adding alot of oil, the soup actually keeps warm until it reaches her husband. Sam Sam and one aunty were wondering if the husband got a heart attack from drinking that much oil.

Outside Scream Park. Its like SJAB's Ghost Tunnel, just that it makes you very dizzy with all the flashing lights inside (it was suppose to mimic Prison Break) and 3D effects. Not scary, but it does have a BOO! factor, e.g. "actors" suddenly coming up to you. Xuan and I agreed our SJAB Ghost Tunnel was more scary.

Singaporeans should STOP complaining about our way of life (eg transport system, level of efficiency etc..).

You'll get what I mean when you travel to less efficient countries like KL and really appreciate how good Singapore is.

KL should only be visited for shopping and eating.
The other states like Malacca are all right, but KL is shocking!

Everything else is pretty much -_- , Sunway Lagoon was all right though if you're into theme park rides.

Taxi drivers: BAD BAD BAD. Rude, weird and totally shocking!! They don't want to have you as passengers even if you are willing to pay. Very odd. Its as if YOU are doing them a favor instead of it being the other way round.

Customer service: SHOCKING. They can hold up an entire queue just debating over something small! Efficiency is ZERO. Even at Mac Donalds, you have to wait in line for at least 15 minutes to be served and wait another 10 minutes to get your food. Multi-tasking seems to be near impossible for them. They much rather chit chat by the fries station, waiting for it to be ready then get the other food (e.g drinks, burger).

Toilets: You have to pay 0.30 Ringgit every time you wish to visit the bathroom in shopping centers. Fair enough if they are abit runned down, but even at classier shopping centers, you still have to pay!! Its weird, its like paying to go to the bathroom at Paragon or Tanglin!!
The female toilet at the budget terminal HAD A BLACKOUT!! We had to use our handphones to guide us. SHOCKING.

Airport: The International one seems nice, but I can't really judge because we were only at the ground level. We took the KLIA Express ($35 Ringgit) from one of the trains stops to get to the airport, and then transfer to a coach (which we had to pay an additional $1.50 Ringgit for) to get to the budget terminal. KLIA Express was all right, relatively comfortable seats. The journey on KLIA Express was about 30 mins so $35 Ringgit was all right I suppse, cause its quite far.
The journey from KLIA to the budget terminal is further from my house to the airport, which I find amusing.
The budget terminal is a far cry from the International airport terminal! Very runned down, very... "anyhow". If it was an ulu part of Malaysia, and the airport looked like that, fair enough, but this is only the budget side of KL's International Airport! No wonder its so far away from the International wing! Probably didn't want to spend as much on the budget terminal, and one way to avoid a direct comparison? Situate it miles and miles away from the International airport!

Haha, I know it seems like I'm very picky and always complaining, but seriously!! You need to experience it to know what I mean! Espcially when you're coming from Singapore where everything is very much on-the-ball, clean and all.

I'm so so glad I went with an enjoyable group of people, or this trip would have been disasterous. My blood would have DOUBLE BOILED.
Retail therapy was also rewarding, so that was good. =)
We stayed at my uncle's place and that was a bonus, easily accessible and in the heart of the city.

Sam Sam, Jan and I went to watch The Nutcracker today, presented by the Singapore Dance Theater at The Esplanade.
It was the last night, so there were quite alot of people.

I thought it was average (ok, this is coming from someone with no clue about the mechanics of ballet) and since its a local production, one tends to be harsh.
The ballet was not synchronized 90% of the time, and some scenes actually looked pretty messy.
The choreography and 1 ballerina was good. This is not to say the others were not, just that the lady in green in the second act kind of stood out.

Yawn.

Penguins caught stealing eggs from straight couples in an attempt to become fathers have been given their own to look after following protests.

Zoo keepers moved the male birds away from the rest of the penguins to avoid problems as hatching season approaches.

But angry visitors to Polar Land in China complained it was not fair for the males to stop becoming surrogate fathers.

Following the protests, zookeepers gave the pair two eggs laid by an inexperienced first-time mother.

"They've turned out to be the best parents in the whole zoo," on zoo keeper said.

"We will try to arrange for them to become real parents themselves with artificial insemination."

Despite being gay, it is understood the three-year-old male birds are still driven by an urge to be fathers.
